Hello Fellow Rotarians in District 6220!

As our Fall is winding down and we look to the Holiday season I wanted to update everyone several topics.

Club Visits

It was a great honor and very enjoyable to visit every club in the District!  So many clubs are doing amazing local and international projects.  Please don’t forget to pat yourself on the back and get the word out on your club’s excellent work. We can’t be in the media too much!  At a recent Rotary Regional meeting, a speaker said, “Use Rotary to move yourself into local and global service”!  What a great thought!  If your club does not have a Public Image/Media Savvy person – think strategically of recruiting one.

Amazing Scholarship Opportunity

It is time once again to begin recruiting for our Graduate Peace Scholar.  The Rotary District 6220 Global Scholar Program provides $30,000 scholarship awards for graduate studies at a qualified college/university (i.e., has a graduate level program of study that directly relates to at least one of TRF’s Areas of Focus) outside the USA for US citizens; or, for international citizens (namely, cannot have U.S. citizenship or have a green card or in the process of applying for U.S. citizenship), outside their native country where a Rotary host club can be identified.  Scholars must commence studies no earlier than the beginning of the academic year in the fall of 2018 and conclude no later than December 30, 2019 and expend the scholarship funds within 12 months of starting studies.

Eligible applicants will have a demonstrated record of high academic achievement; a reasonable level of proficiency in the language of the region of study; excellent leadership skills and potential; a proven record of success in his or her academic field or vocation; a commitment to community service; well-defined and realistic goals; concrete ideas for advancing within his or her chosen field; and, sincerity about maintaining a lifelong relationship with Rotary after the scholarship period.

Pre-qualification Application. Applicants must submit a Pre-qualification Application for initial District 6220 review and acceptance by January 31, 2018.  There are MANY details but the opportunity is huge.  Want more information?

Strategic Planning

Both the Wausau and Marquette Clubs have recently done a “visioning” session or strategic planning exercise.  If your club needs a refresh of identify or what it wants to do – please consider having a facilitated visioning session it is free and there are trained volunteers in our District that can help.  Contact Sue Morris in the Lakeland Club if you are interested.  Sue Morris This email address is being protected from spambots. Tree Planting

Winter is a wonderful time for your club to decide where and when to plant your one tree per member.  Four clubs have completed the challenge and several clubs have planned to plant many, many more than just one per member.  Please Contact me – DG Tina if you need help.
