club news: Clintonville Rotary Club

Top: The Clintonville Rotary Club honors a senior “Student of the Week” at every meeting, as chosen by the high school principal. They have been doing this a long time. Last year, the group decided to install a “Rotary Student of the Week” parking space at the forefront of the parking lot in front of the high school for added recognition and club publicity.

Second from Top : The Rotary Exchange Program is alive and well in Clintonville! In 2010-11, we were able to host Margot Vandeputte from France, and we are hosting Felipe Madruga of Brazil for the 2011-12 school year.

Second from Bottom: During the summer of 2011, the Clintonville Rotary Club sponsored three short-term exchanges. Lauren Pugh spent one month in Germany with Laura and brought her host sister back to Clintonville for one month. Markiesa Westphal spent one month in Columbia with Anna and brought her host sister back to Clintonville for four months. Holly Mayek spent one month in France with Pierre and brought her host brother back to Clintonville for one month.

Bottom: Clintonville Rotary Club Secretary/Treasurer Carl Bruggink was honored recently at Clintonville High School, as the community unveiled the newly dedicated “Carl Bruggink Court.” From left to right: Marcia Bruggink (Carl’s Sister), Carl Bruggink, Judy Bruggink (Carl’s Wife). From the club’s website: “The Clintonville Rotary was established to capture enthusiasm, talent and spirit for Clintonville.”

Clintonville was honored to be part of the 2011 Group Study Exchange tour. Club members spent one wonderful day with the GSE team from Japan. While spending time with the Clintonville club, the GSE team visited the nearby Navarino Nature Center, the Four-Wheel Drive museum, Seagrave Fire Apparatus, a club meeting, and the Wolf River, to view the sturgeon spawning.
