| When RI President Arch Klumph visited the Rotary Club of Marquette
in the Fall of 1916 he noted that there was a need for an "endowment
to do some good throughout the world." The following year
RI formally established such a fund "...for the purpose of doing
some good in the world through charitable, educational, and other
avenues of community programs."
Since then, The Rotary Foundation has become one of the largest,
most active, and most recognized foundations in the promotion of
world peace and understanding.
